A big idea just bumped in my mind. Computer and television screens are getting bigger and more precise day by day, and as the resolution gets higher per inch/cm depending on your whereabouts the text on the screen becomes smaller and less readable unless you like to keep your head 10 centimeters from the screen and get glasses before you retire. PS3 games show up text almost at an unreadable font size on a 28” CRT, flashing every small detail due to the scaling. It can really get on your eyes during long time periods. So what could possibly fix all this?
Proximity sensors not limited to a certain distance? Perhaps. Some peripherals which sense the distance between your computer or your screen and send the data back to your device at a relatively quick but not too battery draining interval? Sounds more likely for now. And it all would be automatic, setup free and as so, easy to the end-user.
As you can see I’m not much of an illustrator, especially when you have to do it by mouse.
I think this technology would be worth developing and many people would love it. In the age of media center PC:s and all other living room computers, user-relative font scaling could be huge indeed.
